The Benefits of Epsom Salt

Hey All!

I am so sorry that it has been so long.  Life has been a little crazy, and that means that the blog has fallen by the wayside.  I have had some stressors going on at work that have made my anxiety creep back up, which means less sleep, which means that I have been seeing fatigue come full throttle back into my life.  Luckily, this week I am on Spring Break, so I can reset. My dad is here to hang out with me, I’ve had a few lunches with some awesome ladies from work, and I am starting to feel like myself again.  Hooray!

A quick update before I dive into my love, my life, epsom salt.  I am creeping up on 9 months post-treatment. Hard to believe! As I mentioned before, I have noticed that stress is a huge trigger for some of my symptoms to rear their ugly little heads.  The issue is, working in the field that I do, it is hard to NOT endure stress from time to time.  Do I take care of myself once I get home? Of course! It is just hard to turn it off when you spend 9+ hours a day dealing with said stress.  I am doing the best I can with the situation I have been given.  Stress has caused my anxiety to come back, which then impacts my sleep.  I know that I need at least 9 hours of sleep in order to wake up feeling refreshed and human, and I have been trying my best to make sure that I get that.  My issue when I have anxiety is, however, that I wake up pretty routinely on the hour, every hour, from 1:00 AM on.  The voice in my head won’t shut up! Now that I am on break, I am feeling much clearer up there, though.  I have been continuing on the Medical Medium protocol that I mentioned in my last blog, and that has been great.  When I do get the recommended amount of sleep, I feel great. I have energy all day, and am able to concentrate for longer periods of time than ever before.  I’m currently reading my FOURTH book since leaving treatment (which is huge for me) and I comprehend what I read.  Things are definitely looking up.  I have gotten a lot of questions about whether I would recommend my treatment center, StemAid, and I absolutely would! The doctor and staff at StemAid gave me my life back. I still cry when I talk about it because of the impact it made on me. I cannot say enough good things.

Anyways, now on to the reason for writing.  EPSOM SALT!

The Benefits of Epsom Salt

If you have been following me for  a while, you know that epsom salt and I are good friends.  Let’s go through some ways you can use epsom salt, and the benefits of each use.

  1. Detox Baths
    • Whether you have the MTHFR gene mutation or not, detoxing is vital.  Your body needs to get rid of the toxins that it comes across day in and day out, and a wonderful way to do this is through an epsom salt bath.  Simply draw a hot bath, and add 1-2 cups of epsom salt.  Make sure that you swish it around with your foot to make sure it dissipates.  For those of you that are MTHFRs- the more cups of epsom salt, the better.  Make sure to stay in the bath for at least 12 minutes to reap the full benefits.  When I’m feeling fancy, I like to add a calming essential oils like lavender or eucalyptus. Benefits of epsom salt baths include, but are not limited to: balancing blood sugar, calming the nervous system, relieving joint and muscle pain, kick a cold/ break a fever, remove toxins left behind by parasites, and aid in sleep.
  2. Get Rid of Parasites
    • Yep, you heard that right.  Remember that parasite cleanse I wrote about a couple of months ago?  The major component of getting rid of the parasites is drinking epsom salts a few times within 12 hours.  It flushes those suckers out and is a great way to rid the body of kidney, liver, and gall stones.  I do not recommend just drinking epsom salt.  You need to follow a specific protocol and consult a physician before starting a cleanse of this nature.  If you’d like a copy of the protocol, drop me a line and I can send it your way.
  3. Get Rid of a Sunburn/ Bug Bite
    • Find yourself with a sunburn or a bug bite?  Mix two tablespoons of epsom salt with one cup of water and put into a spray bottle.  Spray on the area and voila! A natural way to ease the discomfort and heal your skin.

The beautiful thing about epsom salt is that you can buy a large bag of it at your local drug store for about $3. I always keep an extra bag in the house, and if I feel like something is coming on illness wise, I make sure to up my number of baths.  It is my go-to remedy!

How do you like to use epsom salt? Leave me a message in the comments!
